It may be too late for this skunking, but the last time our dog met skunk,
I was able to let him in the house 20 minutes later, after a quick scrub and a walk, without any skunk odor to speak of in the house the next morning.

She managed to get him back inside and luckily he didn't seem to get a direct hit so the smell isn't persisting too badly! But yesterday morning I looked out into the yard and was greeted by a black & white carcass in the far corner! So you have my sympathies.
